My sister threw a bridal shower for me last weekend and she really did a fantastic job planning everything on her own. She made all the food herself, no caterers, just her in the kitchen making all these wonderful dishes all by herself. All her tables were set up so nicely and the decorations were really something to brag about. She really went all out on this wedding shower for me. I was very impressed with all she did. For someone who has never attended a bridal shower before and being as young as she is, I was totally surprised at all she got accomplished.  She admitted that she did order the cake though, baking is not one of her strong suits. It was a lovely cake too, with each layer shaped and decorated like shower presents, with a big glass slipper setting on top. It was quite unique.

   We played a lot of fun games, bridal bingo, making wedding dresses out of toilet paper and several other enjoyable games. She had nice little party favor gifts for the winners and very nice crystal favors for everyone as a thank you gift for coming to my shower. I received a lot of wonderful gifts from all of my friends and family members at the party, but I think the one gift that meant the most to me was the jewelry box my sister gave me.

She bought it especially for my wedding, to keep my special jewelry in for my ceremony.

It was absolutely exquisite. It was wooden with gold on the top with beautiful delicate butterflies and on the inside was a place to hold a picture, which she said is for my wedding picture. I’ve never seen anything like this before, it was really quite unique. She said she bought it so I could store my wedding jewelry and a small picture of me and my husband on our wedding day as a keepsake. That was such a thoughtful idea.

   The party went on for about three hours and we were all having so much fun. I really hated to cut the cake it was so adorable, but I made sure I got pictures of it before we all devoured it. It really was delicious. It was my favorite, chocolate, double fudge chocolate. I had two pieces and I told her if I can’t fit in my wedding dress now, it’s all her fault.

   On my wedding day, my sister was right by my side at the altar. She was my maid of honor and her boyfriend was our best man. They really make a cute couple, and I can’t wait until they set a date. I’ll probably be giving her a wedding shower before too long, and I just hope I can do half as good a job as she did with the planning. I’d really like to find a shower gift as special as the one she bought for me when that day comes. I did get her a lovely maid of honor necklace for standing with me at my ceremony. I was so glad she liked it. She always has loved jewelry, so I was pretty sure I wouldn’t go wrong with that gift.

    After the ceremony and reception was over, my new husband and I stopped at our place to change and leave for the airport to start on our honeymoon in Hawaii and I took my pearl wedding jewelry and placed it in the jewelry box my sister bought for me. Whenever I take out this box I’ll not only remember my beautiful wedding day, but my wonderful sister as well.
