Galapagos focuses its osteoporosis research on targets that play a role in the actual formation of new bone. This is a novel approach compared to the currently available medicines that all aim at slowing down bone loss (anti-resorption).

Through its December 2007 alliance with Eli Lilly, Galapagos has gained momentum in this therapeutic area – progressing three programs into lead generation and initiating nine additional programs.
